The budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year was approved today, Thursday, during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the parliament building's cabinet room. The meeting commenced at 10:00 AM.

Following the meeting around 1:00 PM, the Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary, Atiqur Rahman Rumon, said the cabinet had approved the budget proposal under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tareq Rahman.

After President Mohammed Shahabuddin signs the budget bill, Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury will present the budget in parliament at 3:00 PM.

Following an absolute victory in the 13th parliamentary election, the BNP-led government is presenting a national budget after a long gap of 19 years.

In this budget, the revenue earnings target is set at 6 lakh 95 thousand crore taka, while the revenue collection target is 6 lakh 4 thousand crore taka.
