Disha Patani Praises Kevin Spacey Over Her Hollywood Debut

Bollywood actress Disha Patani is ready to make her mark in Hollywood. For her international debut, she has teamed up with the influential, Oscar-winning Hollywood star Kevin Spacey.
The 34-year-old Bollywood actress is entering Hollywood through "Holyguards Saga — The Portal of Force," a project that marks Spacey's return to the director's chair after more than two decades. In a recent interview, Disha spoke openly about her experience working with Spacey and the challenging dynamics of carving out a space for oneself in Hollywood.
Disha Patani described working under Kevin Spacey's direction as a completely unique and special experience. Speaking to Variety India, she said that he is truly extraordinary. She noted that because he is a high-caliber actor himself, he understands the psychology of other actors exceptionally well. She added that he is one of the best actors in the world and gives performers a great deal of freedom and space to experiment on set.
Disha shared that every morning during filming, Spacey would sit down with the entire cast to dive deep into the scenes. Instead of just relying on memorized dialogue from the script, he would encourage the actors to dig up emotions from their own real-life experiences.
She explained that he would ask questions like how a person would react in a specific situation, whether they would cry or feel something else, helping them bring the characters to life in their own way. She added that she had never had such an experience with any director before, calling it a wonderful process for understanding a character and taking responsibility for bringing it to the screen.
While many believe that just knowing how to act well is enough to catch a break in Hollywood, Disha dismissed this notion, highlighting the technical realities behind the scenes. In her view, securing an opportunity in the international film industry does not depend on talent alone. Instead, it relies on complex processes such as proper representation, regular audition templates, accessibility, and visa logistics. She noted that sometimes, luck and destiny also play a major role.
Offering tips for building a career in Hollywood, Disha said that at the end of the day, it is a different country and one cannot secure a role just by sitting at home. She emphasized the need to be physically present there, adding that while it might be possible to send auditions from home, it is best to go there in person for a while, build connections, and work consistently on one's craft.
The supernatural action-thriller had its premiere earlier this year in Berlin. Alongside Disha Patani and Kevin Spacey, the film features several other prominent Hollywood stars.
Disha was last seen on the big screen in the multi-starrer comedy film "Welcome to the Jungle." Alongside this big-budget Hollywood project, her schedule remains busy in Bollywood. She will soon be seen opposite Emraan Hashmi in the highly anticipated film "Awarapan 2."
For now, fans are eagerly waiting to see the actress showcase her action skills on the international screen in "The Portal of Force."
