The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian military have claimed responsibility for a series of simultaneous strikes targeting U.S. military bases across five Middle Eastern nations: Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. According to a report by Al Jazeera, Tehran stated that these operations were carried out in retaliation for continuous U.S. attacks on various regions in southern Iran.
In a statement broadcast on the state network IRIB, the IRGC announced that they launched multiple ballistic missiles early Sunday morning targeting U.S. military installations at the Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan. The IRGC’s aerospace force claimed the strike successfully destroyed a command-and-control center as well as hangars housing MQ-9 Reaper drones.
Additionally, the IRGC claimed to have fired ballistic missiles at the Al Udeed Air Base in Qatar, which serves as the primary hub for U.S. air operations in the region. The Qatari Ministry of Defense confirmed that its armed forces intercepted an incoming missile aimed at the country. Following the attack, Qatar's Ministry of Interior raised the national security threat level to high, urging citizens and residents to remain indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and strictly follow official safety guidelines.
Meanwhile, the Iranian regular army released a separate statement detailing drone strikes against U.S. defense infrastructure in Kuwait and Bahrain. In Kuwait, explosive kamikaze drones were used to target a U.S. Army Patriot missile defense system, an ammunition depot, and a radar site. In a subsequent wave of drone attacks, Iranian forces targeted a U.S. communications network and a radar installation in Bahrain. The strikes triggered air raid sirens across Bahrain, prompting the Ministry of Interior to issue an emergency broadcast advising residents to stay calm and move to the nearest secure shelters.
In the United Arab Emirates, the Ministry of Defense confirmed that its air defense systems were actively engaging and intercepting incoming missiles and drones originating from Iran. The ministry clarified that the loud explosions heard in various parts of the country were the result of their defense network successfully neutralizing the aerial threats.
This major escalation follows weeks of friction and marks one of the most expansive coordinated actions against U.S. military infrastructure in the region, putting defense networks throughout the Middle East on maximum alert. (Source: Al Jazeera)
