Missing child Mariam’s body recovered after digging up ground

The body of seven-year-old Mariam Akter was recovered after police dug up the ground in Jamalpur’s Madarganj.
Mariam Akter had been missing for two days. Her family last saw their beloved daughter on Thursday. Her body was recovered after digging up the ground on Saturday night.
The incident took place in Madarganj of Jamalpur. Mariam was a first-grade student at Sidhuli Government Primary School. She was the daughter of Md. Bahadur of the Charlotabor area in the upazila.
Madarganj Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Snehasish Ray said Mariam left home to go to school on Thursday. When she did not return home, her family members searched at the homes of people they knew. The police were also informed.
Later that night, police recovered her body after digging up the ground at a house near the school following information from locals. The OC said the owner of the house, Md. Jaminur, was detained for questioning.
He said, “The child was killed and her body was buried in the ground. Police are working to investigate the incident.”
