Missing Chhatrashibir Leader Found, Faces Rape Case

Islami Chhatrashibir Central Assistant International Secretary Jisan Ahmed Prodhan was found a day after he was reported missing in Laksam, Cumilla.
Cumilla District Police confirmed the matter in a press release on Saturday. Police said that Jisan was not abducted; rather, he went into hiding to avoid the marriage. They found him from Laksam Railway Station area around 10pm on Friday.
Following his recovery, a case has been filed against him on charges of rape under the pretext of marriage and causing a miscarriage.
According to police, Jisan became acquainted with a 25-year-old widow through Facebook around five to six months ago, after which a relationship developed between them. On 20 May, Jisan allegedly raped the woman at his rented house in Daudkandi after promising to marry her. The woman then became pregnant.
Jisan pressured the victim to undergo an abortion and, at one stage, even issued death threats. Eventually, the fetus was destroyed after she consumed medication provided by him.
Police added that when the victim pressured him for marriage, Jisan agreed to a wedding date of 12 June. However, on the night of 11 June, he went into hiding. His cousin then filed a General Diary (GD) regarding his disappearance at the Daudkandi Model Police Station.
Upon hearing of his recovery, the victim filed a case at the police station, naming Jisan as the primary accused.
Cumilla Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Anisuzzaman said that based on the victim’s complaint, a case has been filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
