Prime Minister Arrives at Cox's Bazar

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has arrived at Cox's Bazar. On Saturday (June 13), he reached Cox's Bazar Airport around 9:50 AM flying from from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport via a US-Bangla Airlines flight.
This marks Tarique Rahman's first visit to Cox's Bazar since assuming office as Prime Minister. He is accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman.
Earlier, at 8:30 AM, the Prime Minister reached the airport from his Gulshan residence, according to his Additional Press Secretary, Atiqur Rahman Rumon.
The Prime Minister's itinerary for the day includes: Visiting the Dulahazara Safari Park, inaugurating a nationwide 25-crore (250 million) tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling at the Machumghat Reserved Forest.
Also, the PM will pay tribute to Martyr Md. Wasim Akram's grave. Akram sacrificed his life during the July 2024 anti-discrimination student movement in Pekua upazila. The PM will also meet with his family members.
The PM will laying the foundation stones for the newly formed Pekua Municipality and Matamuhuri Upazila.
Tarique Rahman will attend a public rally organized by the District BNP at the Chakaria Municipal Bus Terminal area in the afternoon.
Later, the Prime Minister will visit the Marine Drive road and the sea beach. In the evening, he will join a civic gathering at the Long Beach Hotel.
After participating in various programs, including the tree plantation campaign and canal re-digging initiatives, the Prime Minister will return to Dhaka by flight tonight.
Following a stay of more than a decade and a half in London, Tariq Rahman returned to the country on December 25 last year. He took the oath of office as Prime Minister on February 12 this year, after the BNP secured a majority in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
