8 dead, 25 injured in Sylhet bus collision

At least eight people were killed and 25 others injured in a collision between two buses around 7:30 am on Friday in Osmaninagar, Sylhet.
Osmaninagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Mostafa confirmed the matter. The accident occurred in the Kashikapon area of the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway.
According to the police and eyewitnesses, a Sylhet-bound London Express bus collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound Ena Paribahan bus.
OC Mostafa said the deceased were all passengers of Unique Paribahan. Most of the injured were also on board that bus.
Fire Service, Sherpur Highway Police, and locals conducted a rescue operation, sending the injured to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital and other hospitals.
The bodies were sent to the morgue for autopsy, while the injured are receiving treatment at the hospital.
Sherpur Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anisur Rahman added that the traffic movement on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway has returned to normal after the two buses were removed. Legal proceedings are underway.
