Russian strikes claimed the lives of three people, including a child, in the region surrounding Kyiv, Ukraine on Saturday.
Tymur Tkachenko, the head of the Kyiv regional administration, said officials recorded strikes at three locations in the Boryspil district near the capital city. In addition to the fatalities, the attack left three other individuals injured.
Meanwhile, within Kyiv itself, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that fires erupted in two districts following an air raid alert. Reuters witnesses reported hearing several powerful explosions that physically shook the center of the city.
These latest strikes underscore the fact that Ukraine remains chronically short of the air defenses necessary to intercept Russia’s ballistic missiles.
