SSC Exam Answer Sheets Found in Open Field

SSC answer sheets recovered from field at Thakurgaon Government Boys’ High School
Fifty answer sheets of the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination for the Bangladesh and Global Studies subject were recovered from an open field in Thakurgaon town.
Police recovered the sheets late Thursday night near the Shaheed Minar, adjacent to the large field of Thakurgaon Government Boys’ High School.
The incident has triggered concern among students, guardians, and locals. Questions have been raised about how such important examination documents were left in a field, who was responsible for them, and how a security lapse occurred.
Eyewitnesses said a group of young men spotted a bundled set of notebooks near the field at night. Upon closer inspection, they realized the items were SSC answer sheets. As the news spread, locals gathered at the scene, and police later arrived and took the answer sheets to the police station.
Locals have expressed anger as this marks the second incident involving examination papers recovered from the same area within a week.
Earlier, on May 9, police recovered 11 fourth-year Honours Social Work Department answer sheets from a nearby area.
Guardian Nur-e-Alam said students invest long hours preparing for examinations, and that finding answer sheets discarded in this manner raises serious concerns about exam security and the evaluation system.
Kutub Ali, a resident of the Hajipara area, said, “Answer sheets are not just papers; they are tied to students’ futures. A proper investigation is needed, and those responsible must be identified.”
Several SSC candidates also expressed concern over the incident. Student Labib Hossain said improper handling of answer sheets could affect exam results and urged authorities to act more responsibly to prevent such incidents in the future.
Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Monir Hossain said police recovered the answer sheets from the scene after receiving information and have kept them at the police station. He added that education authorities have been informed.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education) Sardar Mostafa Shahin said the matter is being taken seriously and an investigation has been ordered into how the answer sheets ended up in the field and whether any negligence was involved.
