Gunmen enter home wearing masks and helmets and open fire in Dhaka’s Badda

A group of assailants entered a home wearing masks and helmets and opened fire at a man in the capital’s Badda area. A driver named Rana (35), was shot in the incident. He is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The incident took place around 10 pm Saturday at Moynarbag Bou Bazar in the Hossain Market area.
Rana is from Maijdee in Noakhali. He currently lives with his family in the Kajibari area of Natun Bazar in Vatara. He is reportedly the driver of SP Habibur Rahman Habib.
Rana said he had gone to the home of his younger acquaintance Masud Ahamed Joy in North Badda. He was having a meal and resting at the house when three or four people including a man named Tamim entered and shot him before leaving. The bullet hit his right leg. Tamim was wearing a mask while the others were wearing helmets.
Rana remained at the house for a long time even after being shot. He said, “I had to stay at the house for a long time while injured. Later Joy informed my family and took me to the hospital.”
Rana claimed that Tamim is a member of the Ashik gang.
Inspector Md Habibur Rahman, in charge of the police outpost at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said the injured driver is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Badda Police Station OC Kazi Md Nasirul Amin said, “No one has filed a written complaint in the incident yet. However, after receiving the information, we sent our teams to Dhaka Medical and the scene of the incident.”
The OC said an investigation into the incident has already begun.
