RAB arrested content creator Ripon Mia over allegations of raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl in Netrokona on Thursday night.
Mymensingh RAB-14 Company Commander Major Mir Ishtiak Amin confirmed the matter. He said they handed Ripon over to the Netrokona Model Police Station.
The arrest follows a case filed by the victim’s father on Tuesday night, which named Ripon and eight unidentified individuals as defendants. Ripon went into hiding after the case was filed.
According to the family, the incident occurred on the evening of 1 August while the girl was cooking in her yard. Ripon allegedly forced her into a nearby forest and raped her. He fled the scene when neighbors arrived after hearing the girl’s screams.
Netrokona Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Khayer said a local arbitration was held on Monday night at a BNP party office in a local market regarding the incident.
The arbitration meeting decided to fine Ripon Mia Tk 5 lakh and ordered him to leave the area.
