RAB arrests parasailing company head over tourist’s drowning

RAB arrested the head of a parasailing company, from Mirpur, Dhaka, in connection with the death of a tourist in Cox’s Bazar.
RAB-15 Assistant Director (Media) AM Faruk confirmed the matter on. The man has been identified as Md Farid, 45. A joint operation by RAB-15 Cox’s Bazar and RAB-4 Dhaka led to Farid’s arrest from the Middle Pirerbagh area on Thursday night.
Earlier, Akshar Shovik Roy, 31, drowned after a parasailing rope snapped at Dariyanagar beach on 1 August.
Following the recovery of his body, his sister, Medha Mrittika Roy, filed a murder case at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station, naming Farid, head of Fly Air Sea Sports Parasailing, as the primary accused.
She alleged safety negligence and a failure to provide immediate rescue measures, noting that Akshar was declared dead upon arrival at Sadar Hospital.
Faruk said Farid admitted to fleeing Cox’s Bazar to hide in Dhaka during primary interrogation. Authorities have now handed him over to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station for legal action.
