Bangladesh condemns Israeli settlement plan in West Bank

Bangladesh has condemned Israel’s plan to construct settlements in the occupied West Bank.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this in a press release today, Thursday.
The press release said Bangladesh strongly condemns Israel’s move to advance the plan to build settlements in the “E-1” area of the occupied West Bank.
It noted that such actions are contrary to international law and relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council. It further said this further undermines the integrity of the occupied Palestinian territory and the possibility of an effective “two-state solution.”
Bangladesh called on Israel to immediately stop all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory. At the same time, Bangladesh reiterated its unwavering support for the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Bangladesh urged the international community to strengthen diplomatic efforts to prevent steps that undermine Palestinian statehood and to establish a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East based on international law and the “two-state solution.”
Noting that Bangladesh stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people, the press release said it is committed to supporting their legitimate aspirations for freedom, dignity, justice and statehood.
