Retired BB Official Electrocuted Draining Floodwater in Dhaka

A man died in electrocution while attempting to clear rainwater from the ground floor of his building in Kadamtali, Dhaka.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Police Outpost In-charge Inspector Md Faruk confirmed the matter on Monday. The deceased has been identified as ABM Rezaul Karim, 62, retired additional director of Bangladesh Bank (BB).
According to family sources, rainwater had flooded on the ground floor due to continuous rainfall. He went downstairs to drain the flooded floor and was attempting to connect a plastic pipe after turning on the water motor when he was electrocuted.
After some time, family members found him unconscious in the water. Then they rushed him to DMCH, where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Inspector Faruk said the police station has been informed and handed over the body to the family without an autopsy.
