Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman held a bilateral meeting with Netherlands’ Foreign Tom Berendsen on Friday in Manila, Philippines.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the matter on its Facebook page. The meeting took place on the sidelines of an event organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.

The two foreign ministers discussed advancing bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including the circular economy, legal migration, and technology transfer for delta development.

During the meeting, Berendsen praised the reformative steps taken by the government of Bangladesh.

Khalilur expressed his concern regarding the delays in obtaining visas and the increasing rate of rejections for Bangladeshi students admitted to universities in the Netherlands. He also requested the withdrawal of Apostille document requirements for Bangladeshis.

Berendsen assured that the matter would be investigated to reach a satisfactory solution.
