Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) blocked an attempt by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to push eight individuals across the Kushtia border.
Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) Lt Col Rashed Kamal Roni confirmed the matter. The incident occurred around 5:10 am on Friday near border pillar 152/1-S, located within the Joypur Border Outpost (BOP).
Lt Col Roni said members from the Char Meghna camp of the 146 BSF Battalion attempted to force eight unidentified individuals - including two men and four women - across the river and into Bangladesh.
Upon detecting the activity, BGB patrol team immediately intervened and blocked the attempt.
He added that the individuals were eventually forced to retreat back into India via the river route.
BGB remains constantly vigilant and prepared to thwart any form of illegal intrusion or violations of border laws.
