Hasina was the worst fascist in history: Rizvi

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi speaking
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, senior joint secretary general of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has described former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted from power during the July Mass Uprising, as ‘the worst and most despicable fascist in history.’ He alleged, “To retain power, Sheikh Hasina carried out repression against the people and looted the country’s resources.”
Rizvi made the remarks today, Wednesday, after visiting a photo exhibition on the July Mass Uprising and the movements of the past 17 years in Gulshan, Dhaka. Gallery Hamiduzzaman and the Bangladesh Photo Journalists Association jointly organized the exhibition.
Prime Minister’s Adviser Rizvi said, “Fascists like Nazi Hitler and Mussolini killed millions of people through ethnic cleansing or ethnic persecution. However, they tried to make their own nations the greatest and strongest in the world.”
“Hitler or Mussolini did not smuggle money abroad, loot bank funds, plunder the stock market or seize government land like Sheikh Hasina. Although they were horrific killers and fascists, they had love for their own countries. But Sheikh Hasina had no love for her own country, let alone that. Her main agenda was to loot the entire nation and establish her relatives abroad. She did not move away from this agenda. Therefore, she was the worst and most despicable fascist in history.”
According to the senior BNP leader, fascism rises through a particular backdoor in the course of political developments, and Awami fascism also rose in Bangladesh. He said the Awami League did not hesitate to shed the blood of the people in an attempt to make its hold on power permanent after coming to power through deception. Babies in their mothers’ arms were killed by gunfire from law enforcement agencies. Besides, people from various professions, including restaurant cooks, fruit shop employees and journalists, were killed during the student and public movement.
Speaking about the July Mass Uprising, Rizvi said, “It was a massive awakening and a nuclear explosion of the latent power within the people against the oppressor. However, Sheikh Hasina did not realize that this explosion had been lying dormant among the people. Because she did not realize it, she repeatedly held fake and rigged elections and wanted to remain in power through ‘I and dummy’ elections. Except for one or two countries in the world, no one supported that government. Even so, they remained in power by force.”
Commenting on Sheikh Hasina’s speech at an event of “South Asian Journalists” in Delhi, Rizvi said, “Even though Sheikh Hasina is a fugitive and a convicted accused, the Indian government has shown so much affection, shed so many tears and shed so many crocodile tears for her that she is being given the opportunity to deliver an audio message, even if not a video message! This is the double standard of the Indian government.”
In his view, “India remembered what the fascist gave it, which is why a fugitive and bloodthirsty, horrific executioner like Sheikh Hasina is being given the opportunity to speak there today.”
Criticizing India’s behavior, he said, “India is behaving as if a fugitive and notorious accused from another country, if he is an ‘India lover,’ can be forgiven for seven murders!”
BNP Executive Committee member Mahbub Islam, Metro Group Chairman Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan, DUJ Vice President Rashedul Haque, Bangladesh Photo Journalists Association General Secretary Babul Talukder, Gallery Hamiduzzaman CEO Bhaskar Nazmul, Jubo Dal Vice President Dr. Zahidul Kabir Zahid, Chhatra Dal Vice President Dr. Towhidur Rahman Auwal, among others, were present at the event.
