Three more children die of measles

Three more children died of measles across the country in the past 24 hours, from 8 pm Monday to 8 am Thursday. The children were from Sylhet, Habiganj and Dhaka. According to data from the Directorate General of Health Services, the nationwide death toll from measles has reached 918 since March 15.
According to the Directorate's bulletin issued Tuesday, 59 new measles patients were identified in the 24 hours from 8am Monday.
The highest number of children, 361, have died in Dhaka Division with symptoms of measles. Sylhet Division has the second highest number, with 135 deaths. In addition, 92 children have died in Rajshahi, 63 in Chattogram, 48 in Barishal, 74 in Mymensingh, 32 in Khulna and 14 in Rangpur.
The Directorate General of Health Services said another 1,002 children with symptoms of measles arrived at hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours. Of them, 903 were admitted.
Dhaka Division also recorded the highest number of hospital admissions. A total of 295 patients were admitted in Dhaka Division, 29 in Rajshahi, 115 in Sylhet, 256 in Chattogram, 86 in Barishal, 53 in Mymensingh, 60 in Khulna and 9 in Rangpur.
Since March 15, a total of 126,289 measles patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 121,880 children have been discharged from hospitals.
