2 killed as bus mounts divider in Banani

A bus of Bhuiyan Paribahan lost control and mounted a road divider in Banani, killing two people. The incident occurred around 4:00 pm on Thursday. The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately.
Banani Police Station Officer-in-Charge Farid Ahmed said the Uttara-bound bus from Mohakhali ran over the victims, killing them on the spot.
“We have learned that the two victims were working on the road divider. The bus tried to avoid another pedestrian and hit the divider, crushing them,” he added.
Earlier, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Mohakhali Zone) Md. Russell Rana said the injured had been taken to a hospital.
“The bus climbed onto the median. Besides the two fatalities, several others were injured. We are trying to remove the bus from the road,” he said.
