Presidential election on schedule: LGRD minister

LGRD Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the presidential election will be held within the scheduled time according to the constitution and the candidate for the presidential post will be nominated based on the party’s decision.
He made these remarks after inaugurating the divisional office of the Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) in the Rangpur Central Bus Terminal area on Monday.
Fakhrul added, “Those who call BNP a fascist party lack knowledge. BNP is a democratic party. Whether Jamaat-e-Islami is a democratic party or not will be evaluated by the leaders of that party.”
Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam, Rangpur Development Authority Chairman Samsuzzaman Samu, and District Council Administrator Saiful Islam were present.
Later, Fakhrul inaugurated a rural fair at the Rangpur Public Library premises and visited various stalls. Following this, he participated in a ceremony distributing tree saplings and loan checks among BRDB beneficiaries.
