Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on the media to support efforts to build a humane state and promote human values among the public.
He made the appeal during a meeting with electronic media executives and news heads on Monday at the Public Administration office under the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat. The meeting was held as part of the country-building initiative and took place from 1:45 pm to 3:30 pm.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibli told reporters that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said the government does not want to talk only about politics all the time, everywhere. He added that discussions should not be limited to politics alone, as the country also has an economy, social issues, and human values that need attention.
“He said that nowadays we see incidents such as a dog being killed, and people simply sitting and recording videos. When animals are being killed or people are being killed, we need to strengthen our human values. We need to strengthen our social awareness. The Prime Minister emphasized the role of journalists in this regard,” the Press Secretary said.
The Press Secretary added that the Prime Minister listened to the journalists and said he would continue to engage in discussions and exchanges of views with the media in the coming days.

He said they were able to present their views openly in a cordial environment. He added that the Prime Minister sought media cooperation to help build Bangladesh into a livable and truly humane country, not like Europe or America.
