U.S. President Donald Trump has said that if Iran possessed nuclear weapons, Israel would not be able to survive for even two hours.
He made these remarks in an interview with The New York Times on Sunday afternoon, following the announcement of an agreement with Iran.
Trump sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for continuing attacks on Lebanon. He said those attacks nearly derailed the final agreement with Iran.
Referring to Netanyahu as a "very tough guy," Trump claimed, "To be honest, he (Netanyahu) should be very grateful to us for making the deal. Because if Iran had nuclear weapons, Israel wouldn't last two hours."
During the interview, Trump also threatened to resume strikes on Iran if the two sides fail to reach a final agreement over Tehran's nuclear program.
