Three pickup passengers killed after bus runs over vehicle

As usual, a group of retail vegetable sellers had set out early in the morning to buy vegetables from a wholesale market. The sellers were traveling in a pickup van. Three of them were killed after a bus ran over the vehicle. Three others, including the pickup driver, are undergoing treatment with injuries.
The accident occurred early Monday morning on the Dhaka Sylhet Highway in the Borochor area of Nabiganj upazila in Habiganj. The deceased were Maulana Mashhud Ahmad, 40, son of Sufi Mia of Karkhana village in Nabiganj; Moyna Mia (42), son of Abdul Karim of the Inatganj Bazar area; and Kashem Mia (50), son of Moyna Mia of South Inatganj.
Anisur Rahman, officer in charge of Sherpur Highway Police Station, confirmed the matter. He said five people were traveling to Chashibazar in Habiganj district headquarters early in the morning to buy wholesale vegetables. On the way, a bus of Lucky Paribahan coming from the opposite direction ran over the pickup carrying them. One person died at the scene.
The seriously injured were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared two more dead. The other two traders and the pickup driver are receiving treatment there.
