Security measures have been intensified across Dhaka, including the Dhanmondi 32 area, marking the 51st death anniversary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Saturday.
A water cannon has been stationed at the area, where more than a hundred police members are on duty.
APBn SI Johurul said, “I have been on duty here since dawn. I am here by order of the Police Commissioner of Ramna Zone. Since morning, 33 APBn members have been on duty on both sides of the road.”
Earlier, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) press release on Friday added that the entire capital has been brought under a security blanket to counter any unwanted incidents or disruptions to public safety.
Picket and checkpoint duties are being carried out and searches have been intensified by setting up checkpoints at all entry points of the city.
Alongside these measures, members of the Detective Branch (DB) and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit will also be active in the field.
