The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has taken special security measures across the country ahead of August 15. Intelligence surveillance has been increased to prevent sabotage and any untoward situation.

Security has been tightened at the mausoleum of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and surrounding areas in Tungipara, Gopalganj. Five platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been deployed there.

RAB informed the public about the security measures across the country in a press release issued on Thursday (August 13).

According to the release, each RAB battalion has reviewed the security risks in its respective area of responsibility ahead of August 15 and prepared security plans accordingly. Sensitive locations have been identified and necessary security measures have been taken.

The release also said intelligence surveillance has been increased to prevent extremist groups, banned organizations or organizations whose activities have been prohibited, and any groups opposed to the state and government from creating an untoward situation. Their activities and movements are also being monitored.

RAB is also on alert to prevent leaders and activists of banned organizations, criminals or members of extremist groups from infiltrating August 15 events and creating disorder.

Intelligence activities have been intensified to prevent sabotage or subversive activities by suspected individuals and banned organizations. Surveillance on social media has also been increased, while cyber patrolling has been strengthened to prevent rumors and misinformation.
