Seven More Children Die with Measles Symptoms

Seven more children died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours in Bangladesh, while 1,031 children were newly infected with measles or measles-like symptoms during the same period.

The information was disclosed on Sunday afternoon in the latest measles update report issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The data covers the period from 8 am Saturday to 8 am Sunday.

According to the bulletin, seven children died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. However, no child was confirmed to have died from measles infection during this period. Since March 15, a total of 645 children have died with measles symptoms, while 93 children have died after confirmed measles infection. In total, 738 children have died from measles or measles-related symptoms during this period.

In the last 24 hours, 106 children were newly confirmed with measles, while 925 patients were reported with measles-like symptoms. During the same period, 878 children were admitted to hospitals, and 904 were discharged.

DGHS data shows that since March 15, suspected measles cases have reached 105,618, while confirmed cases stand at 12,632. Of these, 88,844 patients have been hospitalized, and 85,122 have already recovered and returned home.
