Online applications for allowances and education stipends under social safety net programmes will begin on August 1 and continue until August 31.
The information was disclosed in a recent directive issued by the Social Security Wing of the Department of Social Services.
According to the directive, the Department of Social Services will accept online applications from August 1 for old-age allowances, widow and abused women’s allowances, disability allowances, education stipends for students with disabilities, and various allowances and education stipends for underprivileged communities.
From July 1 to July 31, a nationwide publicity campaign will be carried out to raise awareness about the application process.
The directive states that in the 2026–27 fiscal year, applications will be accepted online under the social safety net programmes for old-age allowances, widow and abused women’s allowances, disability allowances, education stipends for students with disabilities, as well as allowances and education stipends for hijra, bede, other underprivileged groups and tea workers under programmes aimed at improving the living standards of disadvantaged communities.
Interested applicants can apply within the specified time through
dss.bhata.gov.bd/online-application.
According to the guidelines, applicants must apply based on their permanent address. For disability allowances, possession of a Suborno Nagorik Card is mandatory.
Applicants must also provide an active mobile phone number registered with their national identity card or details of their own bank account. If a bank account is used, an active mobile number must also be provided for communication purposes.
The Department of Social Services said that individuals who are already receiving regular benefits under any other government social safety net programme will not be considered for this scheme. Those who previously applied online and are currently on the waiting list do not need to apply again.
Under the directive, both new applications and those already on the waiting list will be verified and reviewed, and final beneficiaries will be selected subject to approval by the relevant authorities and the availability of allocations. The final list will be approved following verification in line with existing policies.
The department also said that beneficiaries finally selected will be considered eligible for allowances and education stipends from July 1, 2026.
To ensure necessary preparations and smooth implementation at the field level, instructions have been given to divisional directors, district social services offices, upazila social services offices, deputy commissioners, upazila nirbahi officers and all concerned officials to take the required measures.
The directive further said that if any technical problems arise during the application or verification process, contact should be made with the technical team and designated officials of the Social Security Wing of the Department of Social Services.
