70 bottles of liquor recovered from Chhatra Dal leader’s home, expelled from party

Police raided the home of Chhatra Dal leader Mohammad Abu Shakil Sagar in Chattogram city and arrested two people along with 70 bottles of foreign liquor. However, Shakil managed to flee. After the incident, Chattogram Metropolitan Chhatra Dal expelled Shakil.
On Thursday morning, the city detective police (DB) raided his home on Gosaildanga KB Dobhash Lane under Bandar Police Station in the city. Two people named Pushpen Banerjee and Shamsul Islam were arrested.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of City Detective Police (South) Sheikh Shariful Islam told Agamir Somoy, “A team of ours raided after receiving information that liquor was being illegally stored and sold at the house. At that time, Shakil fled, but two people were arrested. Seventy bottles of foreign-branded liquor were recovered. Shakil has also been made an accused in the case.”
Shariful Islam Tuhin, member secretary of the organization’s Chattogram metropolitan unit, said Mohammad Abu Shakil Sagar (33) was joint convener of Bandar thana Chhatra Dal.
He told Agamir Somoy, “Police raided Shakil’s home and recovered liquor. As soon as the matter was known, he was expelled under the organizational procedure. His primary membership has also been cancelled.”
