Police arrest 6 members of hijacking gang

Police arrested six members of a hijacking gang in Adabor, Dhaka during separate operations on Monday.

Adabor Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahidul Islam confirmed the matter on Tuesday. The arrested individuals are Mirajul Islam, 25, Md Nihad, 20, Md Sheikh Bacchu, 35, Md Faridul Islam, 19, and Md Tamim, 19. Among them, Mirajul faces seven cases.

During the raid, officers seized three cleavers from them.

OC Jahidul said the arrested individuals used to hijack people and steal their money and mobile phones in the Shekhertek, Baitul Aman Housing, and Beribadh areas of Adabor by threatening them with cleavers. They face allegations of stealing air conditioner pipes and electrical wires from different houses, as well as stealing rickshaws from rickshaw garages to demand ransom.

Police added that on the same night, they conducted another raid and arrested one more person named Hridoy alias Tiktok Hridoy, 25. They seized one cleaver from him. Police informed that there are 10 cases and two arrest warrants pending against him.
