Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said storms may sweep over six regions of the country by noon and Dhaka city is also likely to experience rain or thunder showers.

According to the weather forecast issued for the country’s internal river ports from 5 am to 1 pm on Tuesday, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds blowing from the south or southeast at 45-60 kilometers per hour may occur over the regions of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar.

The river ports in these areas have been instructed to hoist cautionary signal number 1.

Another weather forecast for the next six hours starting from 7 am added that Dhaka’s sky may remain partly cloudy to cloudy. Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur by afternoon. Along with this, winds may blow from the south or southeast direction at 10-15 kilometers per hour, while the day temperature may decrease slightly.

At 6 am on Tuesday, the recorded temperature in Dhaka was 28 degrees Celsius, with the air humidity standing at 83 percent. The minimum temperature is recorded at 27.8 degrees Celsius.

Moreover, due to the influence of a low-pressure system created over the Bay of Bengal, squally winds may blow over the maritime ports, the North Bay of Bengal, and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

In the forecast issued on Monday, the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra were advised to keep hoisting cautionary signal number 3. Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay of Bengal have been directed to navigate carefully near the coast until further notice.
