Fuel oil prices unchanged in September

The government has decided to keep the prices of all types of fuel oil unchanged in the country. As a result, consumers will be able to buy fuel oil at the same prices in September as they did in the month of August.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Division confirmed the matter today (Monday).
Earlier last month, fuel oil prices were kept unchanged for the current month (August).
Currently, at the consumer level, diesel is being sold at Tk 115, kerosene at Tk 135, octane at Tk 145, and petrol at Tk 140 per litre.
Prior to this, fuel prices were set on May 31. Following the trend of June, July, and August, the announcement to maintain the same rates for September came, which becomes effective from the first day of the month.
The government automatically adjusts fuel oil prices every month in line with global market rates. On the other hand, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) fixes the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) on a monthly basis.
According to BPC (Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation) estimates, the country's total annual fuel oil consumption is around 7.2 million tonnes. The lion's share—about 75 percent—is diesel, which is mainly used in public transport, farm irrigation, and generators. The remaining 25 percent of demand is met by other fuels such as petrol, octane, kerosene, jet fuel, and furnace oil.
Currently, BERC regularly adjusts the prices of jet fuel and furnace oil, while the Energy and Mineral Resources Division is responsible for setting the prices of diesel, kerosene, petrol, and octane.
