Earthquake Felt in Dhaka and Surrounding Areas

An earthquake was felt across Dhaka and other parts of the country at 9:28:54 pm on Monday. No immediate reports of damage were received.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) confirmed the earthquake, reporting a magnitude of 4.0 on the Richter scale.
According to the EMSC, the epicenter was located in the Murtuzabad area of Bholta Union in Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj district, just 16 kilometers from Dhaka. Rubayet Kabir, an official at the Earthquake Observation and Research Center of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, confirmed the information to Agamir Shomoy.
Meanwhile, the United States Geological Survey reported that the earthquake originated near the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Narsingdi. It measured 4.4 in magnitude and occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.
According to My Earthquake Alerts, the earthquake struck at a depth of 9.9 miles, or approximately 15.93 kilometers.
Earlier, on June 12, a mild earthquake was felt in parts of the country, including Sylhet and Mymensingh. The tremor measured 4.5 on the Richter scale.
