The tenure of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) has been extended by three months. According to the DUCSU’s constitution, leaders of the committee will be able to perform routine duties for the next 90 days.

However, if the election schedule is announced within this time, the committee’s term will come to an end.

Winning the election on 9 September 2025, the Shibir-backed panel assumed charge of DUCSU on 13 September. According to sub-clause (c) of Article 6 of the constitution, the tenure of this committee is 365 days. However, if elections are not held within the scheduled time, the elected leaders will perform duties for an additional 90 days.

Meanwhile, the tenure of the current committee expired on Sunday. However, as the university administration has not yet announced the election schedule, the committee led by Vice President (VP) Abu Shadik Kayem and General Secretary (GS) SM Farhad will continue their responsibilities. Although they will perform routine duties, the university administration stated that they cannot make decisions.

Farhad said the university administration has not said anything regarding the election.
