Union Parishad elections in 7 phases, begin November 12

The Election Commission (EC) is set to begin local government elections on November 12 with holding first the Union Parishad polls.
Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd.) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah told journalists during a press briefing at the Election Commission, on Monday (September 14).
He said that the Union Parishad elections will take place across 7 phases. The first phase will be held on November 12, the second phase on December 13, and the third phase on December 30.
The fourth phase is scheduled for January 17 next year, followed by the fifth phase on February 4, the sixth phase on April 22, and the seventh phase on May 27.
EC Sanaullah said, "The local government elections may commence with the first phase covering Union Parishads across 80 upazilas."
