Jatiotabadi Jubodal Central Committee expelled two leaders from Nangalkot, Cumilla, over allegations of attacking a fellow leader.

Minhajul Islam Bhuiyan, assistant office secretary of the Jubodal Central Committee, confirmed the matter in a press release signed on Sunday night.

The expelled leaders are Abdul Momin, joint convener of Nangalkot Upazila Jubodal, and Nur Ahmad, joint convener of Municipality Jubodal.

The statement read, “In light of clear allegations of involvement in various misdeeds, including attacking a fellow leader of the organization, Abdul Momin and Nur Ahmad have been expelled from the party, including their primary posts.

“The party will not take any responsibility for any misdeeds of the expelled leaders. Leaders and activists at all levels of Jubodal are directed not to maintain any organizational relation with them.”

On 12 August, the banned Chhatra League brought out a procession in Nangalkot. Leaders and activists led by Chatradal leaders Mahfuzur Rahman, Amir Hamza Munna, and Shahid staged a rally near the Dhalua High School Gate area the following day.

Just before the procession reached the main road of Dhalua Bazar, attackers ambushed the rally, injuring at least 20 people. The victims claimed that followers of Mobasher Alam Bhuiyan, MP of Cumilla-10, carried out the assault led by Momin.

Following the incident, Amir Hamza alias Munna, former general secretary of Upazila Chatradal, and Erfan Uddin, filed two separate cases in Cognizance Court number 8 of Cumilla, naming 12 individuals, including Momin, as accused.
