Dolly's body found dismembered day after staying at lover's house

A briefcase. Beside it, a plastic sack. Both were floating in the water of a ditch. They were recovered from a ditch beside the highway in Joydebpur, Gazipur. When they were opened, the dismembered, half-decomposed body of a woman emerged. A mystery formed around that unidentified body. Who was this woman? What was her identity, why was she killed, and who tried to dispose of the body? The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) set out to find the answers to these questions one by one. Those questions have now been answered. The deceased was Dolly Akter (30). The PBI investigation revealed that she had to die as the final consequence of a love affair of nearly five years. After the murder, the body was dismembered and placed in a suitcase and a sack, then thrown into the water.

In this sensational incident, Dolly's lover Md. Mishon Islam (22), Mishon's mother Banu Akter (43), and friend Md. Mizanur Rahman Milton (24) have been arrested by the police. Based on the information they provided, a matchet (boti da) used in the murder, Dolly's national identity card, mobile phone, shoes, and the remaining portions of the scotch tape used to pack the body were recovered.

On September 11, the dismembered body was found in a briefcase and sack in the water of a canal on the west side of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, next to the north side of Hamza Apparels Limited in Bhabanipur, Joydebpur. Since the body was unidentified, identifying her became the first challenge. After the incident spread through the media and social media, the PBI Gazipur district began a shadow investigation. In this incident, the deceased's elder brother Sohel filed a case with Joydebpur Police Station as the complainant against unidentified accused persons.

The PBI said that after divorcing her husband, Dolly lived alone in a rented house in the Baniarchala Memberbari area of Joydebpur. On the night of September 8, she went to her lover Mishon's rented house. There, Mishon, his mother Banu, and Dolly ate dinner together. After that, Banu went to sleep in the next room. Mishon and Dolly remained in the same room.

According to information unravelled in the investigation, Mishon decided to kill Dolly out of resentment over marriage and various previous issues. Later, Dolly was given sleeping pills and allergy medicine. At around 2 a.m., the sleeping Dolly was strangled by wrapping a lungi around her neck and then suffocated by pressing a pillow over her face. After that, the body was placed under the bed. The PBI said that the next day, while cleaning the room, Mishon's mother Banu Akter saw Dolly's body under the bed. Then preparations began to dispose of the body. A suitcase was brought. But the entire body did not fit in it. Then, according to the investigation, the body was cut in two from the waist with a boti da and a blade. One part was placed in the suitcase. The other part was wrapped in polythene bag, placed in a plastic sack, and the process of moving the body began. The PBI said Mishon called his friend Milton, telling him about changing houses. Milton came and helped load the suitcase and sack into an auto-rickshaw.

Those involved in the investigation said that the suitcase and sack were thrown into the canal water near the Bhabanipur Bridge area. At that time, blood got on Milton's hand. He then wanted to know what was inside. Mishon told him that inside the suitcase and sack was the body of his lover Dolly. After that, both returned to their respective homes.

The PBI said that after news of the body's recovery spread, the PBI Gazipur district began a shadow investigation on its own initiative. A crime scene team went to the scene. Evidence was collected. At the same time, analysis of technological information, intelligence information, and local source information began. Gradually, the investigation's lead reached Dolly. Then, on the afternoon of September 12, Milton was arrested from the Bahadurpur Tulsivita area. Later, Mishon and his mother Banu were arrested from separate rented houses in the same area.

PBI Gazipur District Superintendent of Police Md. Rakibul Akter mentioned that since the body was unidentified and decomposing, identifying her was difficult. However, through the combined use of crime scene analysis, modern information technology, intelligence information, and local sources, the identity was found and the mystery of the murder was uncovered.

He said that all three arrested persons gave confessional statements in court under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. It is being investigated whether anyone else was involved in the murder and whether there are any other aspects to the incident.
