Speaking to the media outside the White House in Washington, DC before departing for China, U.S. President Donald Trump said that he is not concerned about the financial situation of Americans. He made it clear that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is his top priority.
Trump made the remarks at a time when prices of everyday goods in the United States have risen to their highest level in four years due to the war with Iran.
Emphasizing his stance, Trump said that in the case of war against Iran, he does not take Americans’ financial condition into consideration, because stopping Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons takes precedence.
When a journalist asked how much rising inflation was influencing him to reach a deal with Tehran, Trump replied, “Not at all.”
He reiterated, “There is only one thing that matters to me when it comes to Iran: they cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons.”
Another journalist pressed him further, asking whether he was considering the financial impact of the war on Americans. Trump responded by saying that every American understands that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons.
The war with Iran has led to rising food and fuel prices in the United States, making daily life increasingly difficult for Americans across the country.
