Israel has severed all communication with Kaja Kallas, the European Union's foreign policy chief, accusing her of 'excessive and brazen hostility' toward the Jewish state.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar confirmed the decision in a post on the social media platform X.
The move comes after Kallas drew a comparison between Israel's actions in Gaza and apartheid-era South Africa, accusing the Israeli government of committing genocide against Palestinians.
In his post on X, Gideon Sa'ar wrote, "Such remarks by Kallas constitute a 'blood libel.'"
He further stated,"As Foreign Minister of the State of Israel, the only Jewish state in the world, and the only democracy in the Middle East, I have no choice but to sever all contact with Mrs. Kallas until she retracts this blood libel against Israel. And that is exactly what I am doing."
Sa'ar did not deny or issue a direct response to Kallas's specific remarks.
