Iran has decided to suspend talks with the United States in protest against ongoing Israeli attacks in Lebanon and Gaza, Iranian local media reported on Monday.
According to the Tasnim News Agency, the Iranian negotiating team has suspended ‘talks and exchange of drafts’ through mediators, citing the continued ‘crimes of the Zionist regime in Lebanon’ and the alleged violation of ceasefire arrangements across multiple fronts, including Lebanon.
The report said Iranian officials and negotiators have stressed the need for an immediate halt to what they described as Israel’s ‘aggressive and brutal operations’ in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as a full withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territories. It added that no talks will resume unless Iran and the ‘Axis of Resistance’ reach agreement on the matter.
Tasnim further claimed that the ‘Resistance Front’ and Iran are determined to block the Strait of Hormuz completely and activate other fronts, including the Bab al-Mandab Strait, in order to ‘punish’ Israel and its allies.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the Iran–US ceasefire agreement covers ‘all fronts, including Lebanon’. He warned that any violation on one front would be considered a breach of the entire ceasefire arrangement.
In a post on X, Araghchi wrote that take note immediately that the ceasefire between Iran and the United States unquestionably applies across all fronts, including Lebanon.
He further stated that any violation of the ceasefire on a single front would be treated as a violation across all fronts.
The senior Iranian diplomat warned that the United States and Israel would be responsible for the consequences of any such violations.
His remarks came amid intensified Israeli attacks in Lebanon. Iran has also insisted that any potential understanding with the United States must include an immediate halt to hostilities across all fronts in the region.
