Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the US Central Command (CENTCOM) exchanged a series of devastating strikes across multiple nations on Monday.
IRGC announced the commencement of the second phase of its “retaliation operation,” codenamed “Nasr 2,” which targeted critical American military infrastructure in Bahrain.
Iranian forces claimed they struck several weapons storage depots, a satellite communications center, and a building housing US personnel at the Al Juffair base.
Moreover, IRGC said its missile and drone attacks hit the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, setting fuel depots ablaze and destroying a Patriot radar, an air control radar, and a C-RAM early warning radar system.
They also targeted the control and monitoring center for unmanned surface vessels. Regarding the ongoing nature of these actions, IRGC added, “The retaliatory operation continues.”
Simultaneously, IRGC launched ballistic missiles at US forces and key facilities at an airbase in Jordan. This strike followed an announcement from Jordanian authorities that they had intercepted four Iranian missiles earlier.
In response, CENTCOM confirmed that it has concluded a five-hour wave of strikes against military targets inside Iran. US military reported hitting sites in Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas.
According to CENTCOM, US forces “employed precision munitions against Iranian coastal defense systems, missile and drone sites, and maritime capabilities.”
They added that the objective of the mission was to further degrade “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping.”
US military announced that it “completed the latest wave of strikes on Iran” at 02:15 GMT. Official reports indicate that more than 50,000 US troops are currently deployed throughout the Middle East as the situation remains volatile.
