The ongoing HSC and equivalent examinations are not being postponed. Except for the Chattogram division, the exams will be held according to the previously scheduled timetable.
This decision was reached on Tuesday following discussions between the Education Minister and leaders of various parties.
Earlier, the education board held an emergency meeting over the HSC examinations. Amid demands to postpone the HSC exams due to adverse weather, the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board had convened an emergency meeting. A decision regarding tomorrow's exams was supposed to come from this meeting.
A relevant source confirmed this information to the media earlier today.
An official from the Dhaka board, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon held a meeting with the chairmen of all education boards, examination controllers, divisional commissioners, and deputy commissioners. The discussions may cover how the exams were conducted amid the adverse weather and if tomorrow's exams will be taken or not.
Earlier, conducting the HSC and equivalent examinations in adverse weather had sparked widespread debate and criticism across the country. In response, students have been staging protests in various parts of the capital today, demanding the education minister's resignation.
