A former official of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a warning stating that Hormuz must remain under Iran's control and foreign forces must vacate the entire region.
According to the Iranian news agency ISNA, Mohsen Rezai, a former commander of the IRGC and a current member of Iran’s Expediency Council, made these remarks.
Rezai stated that Iran will not negotiate with anyone regarding nuclear issues and emphasized that the control of the Strait of Hormuz must remain in Iran's hands.
He warned that if the control and management of the Strait of Hormuz slip away from Iran, enemies will once again use it as a weapon against Iran and its people.
He clarified that Iran must ensure its own security and that foreign powers—whether American or European—must leave.
Iran Considering Proposal as Trump Claims War Will End Soon
U.S. President Donald Trump has predicted that the conflict involving Iran will end quickly. Meanwhile, Iran has stated that a U.S. proposal to end the war is currently under consideration.
Trump claims that the war with Iran will conclude rapidly and believes most people understand his goal, which is to halt Tehran's nuclear ambitions.
According to a report by the American news outlet Axios, the White House believes they are very close to reaching a 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Iran.
However, a senior Iranian parliamentarian dismissed these U.S. claims as a "pipe dream." On the other hand, a spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that Tehran would convey its views on the U.S. proposal through Pakistani mediators.
The Axios report noted that the MoU is a single-page document containing 14 points. It is mentioned in the report that this could establish the framework for broader nuclear negotiations in the future. (From Multiple Sources, including Reuters)
