Iranian foreign minister may visit to Islamabad tonight

Abbas Araghchi
Hope has resurfaced over the possibility of a second round of talks between Washington and Tehran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi may visit Pakistan on Friday, according to sources in Islamabad and Pakistan’s state broadcaster.
A source said Abbas Araghchi will travel with a ‘small delegation’ and is expected to arrive by Friday night, Pakistan time.
Earlier, he held a phone conversation with Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir.
A Pakistani official told the South China Morning Post that the Foreign Ministry will issue an official announcement if the visit is confirmed.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry has not yet commented on the matter.
According to Pakistan TV, a US security team is already present in Islamabad. US media also reported that a Washington delegation could arrive in Islamabad by Saturday, local time.
However, it remains unclear whether US Vice President JD Vance will lead the talks. Earlier this month, he led the first round of discussions alongside special envoy Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
