The Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghaddam, has reacted to U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement regarding the suspension of his new military operation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Writing in Persian on the social media platform X today (Wednesday), Moghaddam referenced the American decision with a sharp remark: "Once defeated, one must be cautious the second time."
Sharing Trump's post from Truth Social, the Iranian Ambassador added a caption stating that attempting something that has already been tried once will only lead to regret.
While Ambassador Moghaddam took a critical tone, Donald Trump stated that the decision to suspend the operation was made based on a "request" from Pakistan, which has been acting as a mediator in U.S.-Iran discussions.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif posted on X praising Trump for his "courageous leadership" and the "timely announcement."
Sharif wrote that this announcement would go a long way toward fostering regional peace, stability, and reconciliation during a period of high tension.
Pakistan has been serving as a mediator in the ongoing peace talks between the United States and Iran, with several rounds of discussions recently held in Islamabad.
The Pakistani Prime Minister further wrote on X that Pakistan remains firmly committed to supporting all efforts that facilitate a peaceful resolution of conflicts through restraint, dialogue, and diplomacy.
