TankerTrackers said that Iranian oil tankers have departed the port following a blockade by the United States that lasted nearly two months.
The shipping website added that at least three Iranian tankers, carrying around five million barrels of crude oil, left the Strait of Hormuz from the Persian Gulf region on Wednesday local time. This is reportedly the country’s first crude oil export in two months.
TankerTrackers mentioned in a post on the social media platform X that at least two VLCC supertankers from the National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC), named Diona and Hero 2, bypassed the US Navy blockade.
These vessels collectively carried a total of 3.8 million barrels of Iranian crude oil.
The oil shipment and storage monitoring site later added that a third NITC tanker exited the blockade line carrying one million barrels of Iranian crude oil.
Earlier, on Tuesday, President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance signed a memorandum of understanding to end permanent conflict with Iran. On Friday, representatives from Washington will hold formal discussions with Iranian Speaker Ghalibaf in Switzerland.
