The Maracana Stadium is expected to be packed with spectators on Sunday as Brazil take on Panama in an international friendly. Although the match serves as an opportunity for Carlo Ancelotti to experiment, Brazil supporters are also eager to assess the performances of Vinicius Junior, Raphinha, and their teammates ahead of the World Cup.
Despite Panama being considered weaker than the star-studded Brazilian side, fans still hope to see an encouraging display. They want to evaluate the five-time world champions as they pursue their quest for a sixth World Cup title. By mutual agreement between the two teams, up to 11 substitutions will be allowed in the match. While the Italian coach plans to rotate his squad extensively, the starting lineup could also be the one that takes the field against Morocco.
On Friday, Ancelotti fielded a probable starting XI consisting of goalkeeper Alisson; defenders Wesley, Bremer, Léo Pereira, and Alex Sandro; midfielders Casemiro, Bruno Guimaraes, and Luiz Henrique; and forwards Vinicius Junior, Raphinha, and Matheus Cunha. Brazil could field the same starting lineup against Morocco on June 13.
However, Ancelotti will be without three key players for this match. Defenders Marquinhos and Gabriel Magalhaes, along with forward Gabriel Martinelli, have yet to join the squad due to Saturday night’s Champions League final. Neymar also remains unavailable because of injury.
More than 73,000 tickets have already been sold for the match at the Maracana Stadium. A music show will take place before kickoff, and former stars will be honored as part of the occasion.
