Cristiano Ronaldo's club Al-Nassr is facing financial difficulties that have delayed player salary payments and stalled its transfer plans, according to Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah.
The report said the club has paid only part of the players' June salaries, with the remaining amount still outstanding due to cash flow problems. The situation has created uncertainty within the squad as the team prepares for the new season.
Despite making major investments in recent years following Ronaldo's arrival, the reigning Saudi Pro League champions are now reportedly grappling with a shortage of liquidity.
The financial strain has also disrupted Al-Nassr's transfer strategy. After Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozović's departure was confirmed last week, the club began searching for a replacement but has been unable to advance formal negotiations with potential signings because of its financial constraints.
Plans to recruit a foreign midfielder have reportedly been put on hold indefinitely. Strengthening the midfield had been one of the coaching staff's key priorities ahead of the new campaign, but unless the club's financial situation improves quickly, Al-Nassr may have to begin the season with an incomplete squad.
The situation also presents a major challenge for new head coach Ange Postecoglou. Al-Nassr are set to compete in four competitions next season—the Saudi Pro League, King's Cup, Saudi Super Cup, and the AFC Champions League Elite. Failure to restore financial stability and strengthen the squad could leave the team under pressure from the very start of the campaign.
