HSC examinees are protesting at University of Dhaka’s (DU) Senate Building on Tuesday while Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is present at a youth and startup program inside.
The students started their protest in the Science Lab area. They headed toward Shikkha Bhaban to protest the continuation of HSC exams amid continuous rain, waterlogging, and adverse conditions, while also demanding the resignation of Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon.
As the day progressed, protesters reached the Mall Chattar area of DU, where they were blocked by police. At that time, the students took a stand and continued chanting slogans.
A large number of law enforcement personnel were deployed to keep the situation under control. At one stage, a scuffle occurred between police and some students, which increased the tension.
At the Senate Building, just yards from the protest, Tarique attended a program titled “Youth, Startup, and the Bangladesh of Possibilities,” speaking about youth innovation and entrepreneurial potential.
Meanwhile, during the protest, Nasir Uddin Nasir, general secretary of Jatiotabadi Chatradal (JCD), arrived at the scene with activists and spoke with the students.
The protesters were chanting “Fake, Fake” slogans directed at the JCD.
