Marriage discussions were underway between the families of Zamil Ahmed Limon and Nahida Sultana Brishti, the two PhD students from the University of South Florida. The pair shared a romantic relationship and were planning to marry soon, according to Limon's brother, Jubayer Ahmed.
Jubayer told the American news outlet CNN that Limon spoke very highly of Brishti during conversations with his family in Bangladesh. He confirmed they were in love and had collectively decided to marry.
According to Jubayer, Limon frequently praised Brishti to their family, describing her as a talented woman who was both an excellent singer and a skilled cook.
The two Bangladeshi students had been missing since April 16. After failing to locate them, a family friend alerted the authorities on April 17, leading the County Sheriff to file two separate missing person reports and launch an investigation.
Subsequently, the body of Zamil Limon was recovered on Friday morning local time from the Howard Frankland Bridge area in Florida. On Saturday morning, Brishti’s brother, Zahid Hasan Pranto, confirmed her death.
Writing on Facebook, Pranto said: "My sister is no longer with us."
