Storm Warning: Gusts of 60 km/h likely in 13 districts by 9 AM

By Monday (August 17) morning around 9 AM, gusty winds of up to 60 kilometers per hour may sweep over 13 districts of the country, including Dhaka. At the same time, rain and thundershowers are also possible in these areas.
This information was put in the weather forecast for the country's inland river ports, valid from Sunday (August 16) night at 9 PM to Monday morning at 9 AM.
The warning, signed by Meteorologist Md. Omar Faruk of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, stated that by 9 AM, storms may pass over Rajshahi, Pabna, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, and Cox's Bazar.

The warning further said that temporary gusty winds from the south or southeast direction at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour may occur. During this time, along with rain and thundershowers, lightning strikes may also occur.
Under these circumstances, the Meteorological Department has instructed the river ports of the 13 districts to keep hoisting local cautionary signal number one.
Meanwhile, the weather office has also reported that thundershowers may occur in Dhaka by afternoon. According to the forecast, storms with wind speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour may hit 13 regions across the country during this period. Daytime temperatures today may drop by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius.
The weather forecast for Dhaka and surrounding areas, valid for the next six hours from Monday morning at 7 AM, stated that the sky over Dhaka may remain partly cloudy to cloudy. Rain or thundershowers are also possible. Winds from the south or southeast direction may blow at speeds of 12 to 18 kilometers per hour. The weather office said that daytime temperatures in the capital may drop by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius today.
At 6 AM this morning, the temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 27.1 degrees Celsius. At that time, air humidity was 93 percent. Yesterday, the maximum temperature recorded in the capital was 32.5 degrees Celsius. In the last 24 hours, Dhaka received 5 millimeters of rainfall.
